By the time you finish reading about all the fun things to do in town you will definitely want to make a family budget and plan your move…

1. Be Stunned by the Beauty of Stained Glass Architecture

Stained glass art is truly a sight to behold (and one of the most romantic things to see, especially as the sun is setting…) In Stamford, you can marvel at this unique art form in two locations: the First Presbyterian Church of Stamford, also known as the Fish church, and the Stamford Cone.
The first is a 260-foot tall, fish shaped church with massive stained glass windows comprised of over 20,000 pieces of faceted glass. The latter is a 45-foot tall landmark built as a feature for the UBS AG’s headquarters, consisting of stained glass by British artist Brian Clarke.

2. Scope out the Stars

The Stamford Observatory is a four-story research facility featuring a mighty 22-inch telescope used primarily by members of the Fairfield County Astronomical Society. The observatory is open to the public on Friday nights between 8:00-10:00, weather permitting, with guided tours are often on offer.

3. Attend the Hottest Events

Whatever your idea of fun is, you will find it here. A Comic-Con art show? Sunset yoga? Coloring and wine sipping? No reason to stay in when you’re living in this bubbly, eventful town. In fact, Stamford’s action packed event calendar will give you such FOMO, you might want to just break your lease and move immediately.

4. Go on a Downtown Shopping Spree

Retail therapy doesn’t get any better than at downtown’s Stamford Town Center Mall. With 130 shops including Apple, Pandora, Michael Kors, H&M, and Pottery Barn, you will undoubtedly find everything you need. When your belly starts growling, stop at the Cheesecake Factory, the California Pizza Kitchen or Panda Express, to name only a handful of the mall’s food hubs.

5. Explore Art and Nature at the Stamford Museum

The Stamford Art Museum is a cross between a fine arts gallery and a nature center. Located on what once was a privately owned estate, it stretches over 118 acres and includes a 10-acre working farm, a museum, and gallery for art exhibitions, an interactive nature center, 80 acres of outdoor trails, an otter pond and a vast playground. The SMNC also offers seasonal activities, festivals, and year-round educational programs.

6. Awaken your Taste Buds

Stamford has some great eateries ranging in style from Italian and Greek to Far Eastern and Indian cuisine. The city’s Restaurant Week (which actually takes place over the course of two weeks) gives diners the opportunity to sample the city’s wealth of culinary experiences with fixed-price lunches and dinners and special menus from August 21st to September 4th.
