  1. Sebastian Inlet State Recreation Area

    The second most visited park in the state, Sebastian Inlet State Park is located 10 miles south of Melbourne Beach. The park is an excellent place to enjoy a wide variety of aquatic activities, including fishing (both in the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River), surfing, snorkeling and scuba-diving, surfing and swimming. The rich wildlife includes sea turtles as well as ospreys and other species of shorebird. This park is also one of the best for family activities in Melbourne- the beach is perfect for little ones and there is endless space to run around and burn off some of that energy.

 

  1. Tennis

    Melbourne has three tennis facilities offering tennis lessons and holding tennis events and tournaments- Fee Avenue Tennis Complex, Jimmy Moore Tennis Complex and Ballard Park. You can join one of the teams of the Space Coast Tennis League for men, women, seniors and mixed doubles at either Fee Avenue or Jimmy Moore- moving to Florida is a great opportunity to pick up your game!

 

  1. Wickham Park

    This sprawling park is equipped with all the amenities for practically any kind of outdoor activity you could dream of and features a volleyball court, disc golf course, two swimming lakes, equestrian sports facilities, archery range and camping facilities. The expansive park holds fun community events like Movie in the Park, where major motion pictures are screened along with like-themed activities. Grease, for example, was screened as part of an event featuring classic cars and a dance contest! There is also Rock the Park, a celebration of local rock music and Melbourne Mud Bash, a 5k obstacle course set in- you guessed it- mud. Cool community events like these are just one of the reasons to move to a small town.

 

  1. Free Outdoor Concerts

    How about some classical music to go along with all that fresh air? The Brevard Symphonic Orchestra holds free concerts and events to share the beauty of classical music with the community. These family friendly events are usually held outdoors, like the 4th of July Symphony under the Stars in Cocoa Riverfront Park.

 

  1. Golf

    The city of Melbourne has two of the finest public golf courses in Central Florida- Mallards Landing and Crane Creek Reserve. The latter has been open since 1928 and is a member of Florida’s Historic Golf Trail. Over 100,000 members from the Melbourne area enjoy these top of the line courses, playing over 80,000 rounds a year!
