Places to Find Free Moving Supplies

Free Moving Supplies

Researching and comparing cheap moving companies to get the best deal will ultimately save you a nice amount of money. However, it is unfortunate that many people get themselves a great deal on movers, but then they waste a ton of money on moving supplies. Unless you need a wardrobe box for suits and gowns that can’t get wrinkled, it is rare that you should be forced to dig deep into your pockets to pay for boxes.

Liquor Stores

There is nothing better than the boxes you get from liquor stores. They are seriously heavy duty, and most have cut-out handles and lids. These are especially ideal for CDs, movies, books, plates, glasses and other items that can quickly make a box pretty heavy. Of course, it does not hurt that they actually look cool too! Would you rather have a diaper box or one that says Grey Goose or Jack Daniels on it?

Starbucks

Okay, so you don’t have to specifically go to Starbucks. Other coffee shops should be able to help you out as well. It is just that Starbucks is known for receiving two and sometimes even three shipments per week; that’s a lot of boxes to have on hand. Plus, if they do not have any the day you go, you might only have to wait one or two days for their next shipment, unlike somewhere else that might only receive weekly deliveries.

Bars, Nightclubs, and Restaurants

Those same boxes that you get at liquor stores can also be found in your local bars and nightclubs. Plus, a restaurant with a full bar will have liquor boxes plus boxes that their food and dry storage goods come in.

Book Stores

You may want to actually call the bookstore to find out what day they get deliveries before you head there. These boxes are durable enough to hold books, so they will certainly hold anything you need to stuff inside.

Schools

Many people overlook going to a school for boxes, but they receive plenty of supplies weekly, such as toilet paper, paper towels, chalk, etc. Plus, the cafeteria will have boxes from food deliveries.

Office Supply and Electronics Store

Office Max, Best Buy, Media Play, Radio Shack and other similar stores will have tons of boxes. Plus, they will often have some larger ones, which are perfect for clothes shoes and bedding.

U-Haul Box Exchange

It is surprising that so many people go into U-Haul and pay for boxes when they have created a message board, so you can find free ones in your area.

Craigslist

You can find everything else on Craigslist, so it only makes sense that you turn to this helpful site for boxes. Just go to the “Free” section under the “For Sale” category, and there are usually dozens of places offering free boxes.

Banks and Offices

Banks and office  buildings are great outlets as well, especially an insurance or attorney’s office that may go through a ton of copy paper. Those copy paper boxes with handles will be appreciated by your movers. It doesn’t matter if they work for expensive or cheap moving companies, everyone appreciates convenience.

There are alway ways to utilize garbage bags for you move as well. Don’t forget there are many things you always own which can be used as packing materials.
