The movers were late, and one of them was DRUNK…
“Moving to the place I live in now was a very bad experience. The movers were late, and one of them was DRUNK. He made wildly inappropriate comments and kept knocking stuff over. He broke one of my lamps and spilled his coke on my landlord’s carpet! I called the company around mid-day to ask that somebody replace him, but no one showed up until 3:30 PM! We finally got my stuff unloaded at the new place around 11 PM… Worst moving day of my life!” – Abigail Hayden, NC

They held my stuff hostage for two days until I gave up and paid them…
“The last time I moved was the worst. The movers were pretty efficient and nice and got the truck loaded surprisingly quickly. The problem was when I drove my car to meet them in the new place- they never showed up!!! I got a call the next day that my stuff was in the company’s storage facility and that to get it delivered to my home I would need to pay extra fees (i.e. ransom) because my inventory was larger than I claimed when I booked them… Which was a lie! We didn’t even make it down the street before it broke down…
“My fiancé and I rented a truck to move into our first home together. We didn’t even make it down the street before it broke down. The insurance sent a mechanic and we started driving again, but about 10 miles from our new home it broke down again, and this time it was late and raining cats and dogs. “The movers showed up late, smoked in my hallway, dinged my wife’s heirloom armoire and my stereo, took a 50-minute lunch break, left muddy footsteps all over our new apartment and argued with me aggressively when I wouldn’t shell out an extra $140 for some bogus fee they made up. Three roundtrips in terrible traffic and getting to our new place at 1 AM.
“I was moving from a tiny place in Manhattan to a new place in Brooklyn. I didn’t have a lot of stuff so I thought my boyfriend and I can handle it. Big mistake… Some of the boxes I picked up weren’t sturdy enough and kept collapsing. At one point, all my books fell through the bottom into a mucky puddle on the sidewalk! The friend who let us borrow his pickup didn’t clear out his stuff before so we had to fit everything around his snowboard and all his other gear.
